Christmas Gala & Ice Show Policies

 

  1. Christmas Gala Policies

    1. All registered skaters in Star 2 and up will be eligible to perform their solos during the Christmas Gala.

    2. Group Numbers will consist of PreCan, CanSkate (maybe multiple depending on group size), Star 1, Adult and Opening and Closing.

  2. WFSC Year End Ice Show Policy 

    1. All skaters must register by the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted.

    2. Refund requests for Ice Show Participants will only be accepted for 7 days after the
      registration deadline. After this time, refunds will no longer be available.

    3. Skater groupings, music/music length, and costumes will be determined by coaches.

    4. Assigned groups, music and costumes are final.

    5. Associate members of the Wabush Figure Skating Club are not eligible for Solo features but are eligible to participate in group number.

    6. During the Dress Rehearsal and Ice Show, only accredited skaters, coaches and
      parent volunteers will be allowed in the dressing rooms or at ice level. Any parents interested in volunteering must sign up ahead of time and will be assigned a duty.

  3. Ice Show Feature Selection Policy
    Objective:
    To provide the Board of Directors with criteria for the selection of featured skaters.
    Policy Guidelines:

    1. Any changes to this selection criteria are to be made before the start of qualifying competitions.

    2. The list of skaters who have qualified for features will be determined by the criteria below and then presented to the Board of Directors by the Technical Director for confirmation.

    3. The number of features will be limited to eight and will include:

      • ○  6 freeskate features

      • ○  1 artistic feature

      • ○  1 adult feature

    4. Skaters may only be awarded one feature. If only one member of a pair or dance team qualifies for two features, that skater will be permitted to perform both a pair/dance feature and an individual feature. If a skater qualifies for both a freeskate and an artistic feature, that skater will be awarded one of the six freeskate features.

    5. All featured skaters must be in good standing with the club.

    Criteria for Selection:
    Soloists are chosen according to the following list of priorities:

    1. Skate Canada Trophy, Challenge, Nationals or Canada Winter Games qualifiers

    2. If no medals at provincial and higher events, solos will be given to the highest level competitors with the highest point totals of the season.

    3. Gold at Sectionals – Senior to Pre-Novice

    4. Gold at Provincials – Gold to STAR 4*

    5. Gold at Classics - Gold to STAR 4*

    6. Silver at Sectionals – Senior to Pre-Novice

    7. Silver at Provincials – Gold to STAR 4*

    8. Silver at Classics - Gold to STAR 4*

    9. Bronze at Sectionals – Senior to Pre-Novice

    10. Bronze at Provincials – Gold to STAR 4*

    11. Bronze at Classics - Gold to STAR 4*

 

  1. Tiebreakers:

    1. If a tie breaker is required, the category with the highest number of entrants will have priority.

    2. If a second tie breaker is required, selection will be determined based on the age categories. Age groups will be prioritized youngest to oldest.
      * Category order for the purpose of awarding features:

      • Gold

      • STAR 10

      • STAR 9

      • STAR 8

      • Juvenile

      • STAR 7

      • STAR 6

      • Pre-Juvenile

      • STAR 5

      • STAR 4

    3. Additional Ice Show Numbers:

      • ●  CanSkate: The number of groups will be based on the number of participants, as decided by the Technical Director and Ice Show Coaches.

      • ●  STARSkate: The number of groups will be based on the number of participants, as decided by the Technical Director and Ice Show Coaches. The highest level group will also be the “Closing Number”.

      • ●  Opening Number: Consists of all STARSkaters registered in the Ice Show.

      • ●  Graduating Number: Mini group including all STARSkaters in grade 12.

      • ●  Synchro: Ice show features are awarded based on competition level and medal results. Features are limited to medalists Provincials Weekend 3. A maximum of 4 teams will be awarded a feature based on the following priorities:

        • ○  Gold at Provincials (Senior to Novice)

        • ○  Gold at Provincials (Gold to STAR 4)

        • ○  Gold at Provincials (Adult I to Adult III)

        • ○  Silver at Provincials (Senior to Novice)

        • ○  Silver at Provincials (Gold to STAR 4)

        • ○  Silver at Provincials (Adult I to Adult III)

        • ○  Bronze at Provincials (Senior to Novice)

        • ○  Bronze at Provincials (Gold to STAR 4)

        • ○  Bronze at Provincials (Adult I to Adult III)

  2. If a feature needs to be filled the Coaches will pick a Jr Skater to perform their solo during the Ice Show.
